How do i view/convert DTH file (STREAM.STR) to other formats

I am trying to view/edit videos which are recorded from Airtel DTH.
I am not even able to play (STREAM.STR) let alone convert them.
I have seen so many users uploading videos which are recorded from DTH/Dist tv.
Guys, need help with this as i wanted to upload videos here.

Thanks for your reply. but that doesn't work.
It's more complicated than i thought and gave up on it for now.
