Some users are quite abusive. Is it possible to block or mute them in a thread for some period, say 1 week.

Many writers get discouraged and leave due to them.

Only thread owner or moderators can do this.

Actually moderators can do that, just report the person to any Moderator.

There is also an ignore option available. Go to the person's profile > click on ignore.
