वैसे तो सम्भोग के लिए कई आसन हैं पर पहली बार के लिए एक ऐसा आसन होना चाहिए जो दोनों के लिए सरल हो, जिसमें मर्द का नियंत्रण रहे और जिसमें गहराई तक लिंग प्रवेश मुमकिन हो। इसके लिए लड़की पीठ के बल नीचे लेटी हो और मर्द उसके ऊपर हो (missionary position) उचित है। इसीलिए मैंने अपने पात्रों को इस अवस्था में छोड़ा है।
अब बहुत ही अहम समय आ गया है जब लड़का अपना लिंग लड़की की योनि में डालने की कोशिश करेगा। लड़के को उठ कर लड़की की टांगों के बीच अपने घुटनों के बल बैठ जाना चाहिए और लड़की के नीचे रखे तकिये के सहारे उसके नितंबों को पर्याप्त ऊँचाई देनी चाहिए। अगर तकिया पतला है तो दो तकिये ले सकते हैं। अब लड़की की टाँगें पूरी तरह खोल कर चौड़ी कर देनी चाहिए और लड़के को घुटनों के बल आगे-पीछे खिसक कर अपने आप को सही जगह ले आना चाहिए जिससे उसका लिंग योनि में आसानी से प्रवेश कर सके। ज़रूरत हो तो लड़की की टाँगें उठा कर मर्द के कन्धों पर भी रखी जा सकती हैं। इससे लिंग काफी गहराई तक अंदर जा सकता है। अब अपनी उंगली से मर्द को योनि का मुआयना करते हुए उसके छेद का पता लगा लेना चाहिए। फिर आगे झुक कर अपना सुपाड़ा उंगली की जगह रख कर टिका देना चाहिए। यह सुनिश्चित कर लें कि योनि भीगी हुई है वरना अपने थूक से या तेल से लिंग को गीला कर लें। अब सब तैयार है।
इस समय लड़की का संकुचित होना स्वाभाविक है। वह आकांक्षा और आशंका से जूझ रही होती है। पुरुष को चाहिए कि वह उसे दिलासा दे, उसका साहस बढ़ाये तथा उसे आश्वस्त करे कि वह उससे प्यार करता है और उसे तकलीफ नहीं पहुँचाएगा।

इससे लड़की को दर्द तो ज़रूर होगा पर और उसकी झिल्ली का पतन आसानी से हो जायेगा। लिंग को एक झटके में अंदर डालने से दर्द भी क्षणिक ही होगा। झिल्ली-भेदन से कुछ खून भी निकल सकता है जो कि किन्हीं कारणों से मर्दों को बहुत अच्छा लगता है। पर इस रक्त-प्रवाह से घबराने की बात नहीं है। यह झिल्ली के फटने से हुआ प्रवाह है जो थोड़ी देर में अपने आप रुक जायेगा। अगर यह खून ना निकले तो ज़रूरी नहीं कि लड़की कुंवारी नहीं है। लड़कियों की झिल्ली सिर्फ सम्भोग से ही नहीं कई और कारणों से भी फट सकती है जैसे घुड़-सवारी, साइकिल चलाना, योगाभ्यास, जिमनास्टिक्स या कोई दुर्घटना। इसलिए मर्द को लड़की के चरित्र पर सोच-समझ कर शक करना चाहिए।
